Kabbalah of Time: Daily Spiritual Guide
Date: November 9/10, 2025 (19th of Cheshvan, 5786) – Sunday Night / Monday Day
Focus: Netzach shebeChesed shebeGevurah (Endurance in Kindness within Discipline). Day 53 of the 364-Day Yearly Cycle.
Part 1: Cycles and Inner Refinement
1. Hayom Yom for the 19th of Cheshvan
| Original Text (Hebrew/Yiddish) | English Translation/Context |
| A response of the Alter Rebbe in a yechidus (private audience): Chassidus is Sh'ma Yisrael. The word sh'ma is an acronym of s'u marom eineichem ("Raise your eyes on high," Isaiah 40:26). "On high" (marom) means higher and still higher, to attain a level beyond intellect, and grasp this itself intellectually. |
2. Alef-Bet Combination (22-Day Cycle)
Cycle: Day 9 (Tet) of Cycle 3 (Heh and Vav).
Combination: Tet with Vav (The letters $9^{th}$ and $6^{th}$).
| Combination Details | Source Text | Link |
| Tet (ט) with Vav (ו) | Tet is connected to Tov (good), Torah, and light. It also means snake (Aramaic), representing desire and physicality. It represents the hidden good. Vav is the "hook" that connects and transforms. |
Verse for Today (Psalm 34:9): טַֽעֲמ֣וּ וּ֖רְאוּ כִּי־ט֣וֹב יְהֹוָ֑ה אַשְׁרֵ֥י הַ֜גֶּ֗בֶר יֶחֱסֶה־בּֽוֹ / Comprehend and see that the Lord is good; praiseworthy is the man who takes shelter in Him.
3. Sefirah Combination (Yearly Cycle / Inner Refinement)
Tonight begins Day 4 of Week 8 (Netzach shebeChesed shebeGevurah)
| Sefirah Focus | Context |
| Netzach shebeChesed shebeGevurah (Endurance in Kindness within Discipline) | The Sefirah is Netzach (Moses). This quality of Endurance must be applied to Kindness (Chesed), but moderated by Discipline (Gevurah). The combination demands persistent, enduring kindness that is administered with appropriate boundaries and control. |
Part 2: Core Teachings and Practices
4. Kabbalah of Time Weekly Focus (Book 4, Week 8)
| Theme and Verse | Core Concepts |
| STORY OF CHANNAH: 8 And Elkanah her husband said unto her: 'Hannah, why weepest thou? and why eatest not? and why is thy heart grieved? am not I better to thee than ten sons?' | This reflects the emotional struggle post-Tishrei. The lesson is to be a "rejoicer of people" by reminding them they are created beings, focusing on the positive, and having faith in G-d's ultimate good plan. |
| PROVERBS: Chapter 8 | Chapter 8 focuses on Wisdom (Torah) being acquired by G-d at the beginning of His way and being a nursling beside Him, playing in the habitable world and having delight with the children of man. |
| TZADIKKIM: the Radbaz (Rabbi David ben Zimra) and Rabbi Avraham Azulai | Both were prominent Sefardi Kabbalists whose yahrzeits fall this week. The Radbaz was Chief Rabbi of Egypt and teacher of the Arizal. Rabbi Avraham Azulai was a major influence on the Arizal and Chief Rabbi of Hebron. |
5. Light and Fire of the Baal Shem Tov & Jewish Spiritual Practices
| Source Text Summary |
| Love of Israel: The Besht taught the necessity of three loves: G-d, Torah, and Israel. Love for a fellow Jew must be unconditional ("just because he is a Jew") and involve self-sacrifice. A soul may come to this world for seventy or eighty years only to do one favor for another Jew. |
| Prayer & Amen: The Besht inspired simple Jews to recite "Amen, y'hai shma rabba" with devotion and fervor, stating that whoever utters this phrase with all his might has the gates of paradise thrown open before him. |
| Prayer Preparation (Physical Purity - p. 103): To achieve concentration (Kavvanah), one must relieve oneself before prayer. Hand washing and going to the mikveh serve as symbolic and spiritual cleanliness. Light exercises before davvening can remove bodily tensions and dedicate the limbs to G-d's service: "All my bones shall say, 'O Lord, who is like unto Thee!'" |
| Prayer Preparation (Clothing - p. 104): It is appropriate to have special clothes worn only for prayer. Some have a custom to wear a Tallit and Tefillin for Mincha (Afternoon Service) as well as Shacharit (Morning Service), a custom that spread among kabbalists of Safed. |
6. Tanach: Melachim I, Chapters 5 and 6
Chapter 5: Solomon's Reign, Wisdom, and Preparation for the Temple
Solomon's Dominion: Solomon reigned over all kingdoms "from the River to the land of the Philistines, and to the border of Egypt." He had peace on all sides. Judah and Israel "dwelt safely, every man under his vine and under his fig-tree."
Solomon's Wisdom: God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceedingly much, exceeding all others. He spoke 3,000 proverbs and 1,005 songs.
Hiram and Temple Materials: Solomon requests cedar and cypress wood from Hiram, King of Tyre (a lover of David). Hiram agrees and provides the wood in rafts in exchange for large quantities of wheat and beaten oil.
The Labor: Solomon raised a levy of 30,000 men from Israel, plus 70,000 burden bearers and 80,000 hewers. They quarried "great stones, heavy stones, to lay the foundation of the house with hewn stone."
Chapter 6: The Building of the First Temple
Timeline and Dimensions: The building began in the 480th year after the Exodus, in the month Ziv (the second month) of Solomon's fourth year.
Silent Construction: The house was built of stone finished at the quarry, so that "neither hammer nor axe nor any tool of iron was heard in the house, while it was in building" (v. 7).
Structure: The inner part (20 cubits) was the Sanctuary (Dvir)—the Holy of Holies—for the Ark.
Divine Promise: G-d promised Solomon: "If you walk in My statutes... then will I establish My word with you... And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake My people, Israel."
Gold and Imagery: The interior was overlaid with pure gold and covered in cedar boards carved with cherubim, palm trees, and open flowers; "there was no stone seen."
Completion: The house was finished in the month Bul (eighth month) of the eleventh year, taking seven years to build.
