Portion is about redemption from Egypt and the precepts of Passover. The main idea is that there should not be leavened, in order to remember our poor state in Egypt.

That is why we heard only these two commandments, “I am…,” and “You shall not have…,” directly from G‑d, as our Sages have said, for they are the sum total of the whole Torah.
The chapter goes on to explain how "all is as naught beside Him, as if absolutely nonexistent."
Rotzeach uShmirat Nefesh, Chapter Seven, is about those guilty of manslaughter who are exiled to a City of Refuge. They are saved from those that would avenge the blood of the person killed, and are granted everything necessary for them to live and serve G-d. A Torah scholar who is exiled, must be exiled with his teacher!
Bava Basra 10 is all about giving charity to the poor.
